The text below was originally part of an email response to an individual who asked me "which party votes with their heads versus their hearts?" I credit MJ from the Yahoo! Groups Talkmaster List for the idea about every president's first lie; otherwise, the material below is original to the best of my knowledge...

The Democratic Party is full of anti-capitalist nutcases who let their zeal for "equality" cloud their judgement; behind them are those that preach diversity yet segregate themselves, those who claim to love freedom while working constantly to effectively repeal the Second Amendment, those who claim to want economic growth yet clamor for more government regulation of the marketplace, those who claim any attempt to fix Social Security is an attempt to "starve the old people," those who think we're supposed to be the world's police force (unless there's a Republican in the White House) and so on... This is the party of a "right" to quality health care and the trial lawyers who decide McDonald's is at fault when you dump a cup of hot coffee in your lap... This is the party whose high profile members will put in a good word for a convicted cop killer at his parole hearing...; This is the party of people who are so "concerned" about the environment that they torch car dealerships and use the power of government to dictate what private landowners may and may not do on their own land... This is the party that would ban firearms (ALL firearms) if left to its own devices...
The Republican Party is full of religious nutcases who think you and I should have to follow the rules of their religion; behind them are those who think the government has a legitimate reason to monitor your reading habits, those who think sex toys are immoral and thus it should be illegal to buy or sell them, those who want to censor cable TV because we're too dumb (or irresponsible) to decide what our kids should watch, those who think economic protectionism is a good thing, those who think we're supposed to be the world's police force (unless there's a Democrat in the White House), those who think it's okay to ban 'assault weapons' because "there aren't any legitimate uses for them," and so on... This is the party of record spending increases (all in the current term)... This is the party of the Patriot Act (which was bipartison - makes it even worse)... This is the party of the new prescription drug handout for seniors - more income redistribution... This is the party of the unconstitutional No Child Left Behind act (the Tenth Amendment clearly states "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people," and nowhere else does the Constitution provide for federal involvement in education... This is the party whose President signed into law the unconstitutional Bipartison Campaign Finance Reform Act, and even worse, the conservative majority in the Supreme Court upheld it 5-4...
Regardless of which party is in power, the people in Florida will receive untold millions (or billions) or dollars from the federal treasury (via FEMA) after a hurricane tears through - gotta love the income redistribution... Oh, and about the whole "Bush lied" thing - he did. Don't despair, he's not alone - every president in recent memory has lied - and I don't mean little white lies. You see, at the beginning of each term, they're required to state something along these lines: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States," so based on that, I'm sure you see the problem here...
Consistency? The only consistency that I see in either of the two major parties is intellectual dishonesty. Everything depends upon whose "team" you're on. When Clinton's draft-dodging was brought up, the Democrats were quick to point out that it wasn't important because that was a different time and place; however, it's suddenly important now, because President Bush is on the "other" team... If Al Gore had told Senator John McCain to "Go **** Yourself," the Republicans (especially the religious wacko wing) would have come unglued; however, since Dick Cheney is on "our team," then it was a momentary transgression, a slip-up...
This is already way too long, so I'll wrap it up. Yeah, yeah, I know, you still haven't changed your mind... Even though one candidate isn't perfect, you can't stand the thought of the other one being in office so you're going to vote for "the lesser of two evils." If that's the case, then so be it - it's your vote; though I may disagree with the manner in whch you exercise it, I would never suggest that you should not have the right. I'll leave you with this: when you choose between the lesser of two evils, you're still getting evil either way, and you're helping to legitimize the entire horse and pony show, and either way, we still lose freedoms - the only difference is which ones and how fast...
